own a 3 year old rota disc and cut 9000 acres now in total. Changed oil every year and absolutely nothing else. knives still llook good but needed adjustment once during this year. no problems at all during harvest otherwise. ever. is there something else i should be doing for maintenance? having great luck during harvest and don't want any breakdowns next year.

thanks

fergy,
Be sure to check the roto cut off knives bolted to the large roller. With 9000 acres thru the head no matters how many rows your head is you must have wear.
Check your auger drive chain for stretch, 1/4 inch per foot, replace. You can use 60 chain. I am sure your gathering chains are all right but you could look and see how much slot you have underneath your chain guide up by the skid plate.
Check your PTO for bearing play, if you have any replace.
Check for leaks around the gear box area most likely it is a seal.
If you want, e-mail us back and let us know if it is a folding head, how many rows the head is, and the year, 3 years should be a 2008.
