In 2008 I bought a new 6 row roter disk cornhead. First I noticed that the stationary knife is not set up tight to the roter knife. So I loosened the knife to try and set them up and there is no way that you can set them up tight to cut decent. So I used the corn head, had touble all last year, knifes were not cutting, talk to the dealer, So the dealer said to keep working on them they will set up tight. Never did get them set up tight. So this year I ordered new knifes, put them on, same stuff. So I called the dealer back and he told me to grind the holes out, the holes were in the wrong place. So my questioin is why did I spend $50+ thousand and I have to grind them knife down to fit and they still dont work. As of today I must have pluged the snapping roles up 50 times today and getting sick of it.

I think that the proublem may be from the angle of the head not the knives. If the head is running too flat it will cause the knives to heal out and push the stocks and not do as good of a job cutting. I would check the angle of the head, it should be between 25 degrees to 27 degrees. this can be measured on the deck plates with an angle finder. or the operator manual tells how to check by measuring the distance from the center of the miter gearbox to the ground. with the skid plates on the outer end of the row unit just touching the ground, the distance between the center of the miter gearbox and the ground should be about 400 MM or about 15 3/4 inches. If your combine has an adjustable face on the feederhouse it is easy to change the angle of the head. if it doesn't there is an adjustment on the head that can be made tochange the angle. that is also explained in the operator's manual.
I hope this helps if you have any questions post back or send me a e-mail, my address is listed on the site.

Yes, it is well explained in the user manual. All you need to to is read the manual carefully. Smiley
