I have a CNH 7120 with a 3408 corn head with auto height control.  I have been 2 years/seasons trying to get this system to work correctly.  My dealer and CNH have been involved and this machine has had countless software updates all promissing to correct the problems.  Little to no effect.  Most of the problem is sluggish operation.  It is especially bad at comming back down after reacting upward.  For example I have timed it at 4 seconds of having the sensor on the end snoot hanging in mid air before the machine begins to correct and bring it back in contact with the ground.  Have tried all combinations of sensitivity and raise and lower speeds to no avail.  My question is:  Does the Geringhoff sensor system work better on the 20 series CNH machines than the factory system, and why, or is it the CNH computer/programming that is the problem.  Several of us here in north east Nebraska frustrated and curious if there is a solution.

Geringhoff uses the Headsight system. The heasight works on CIH combines and corn heads. Headsigt uses what they call a Insight brain box. That it want makes the difference. The insight box makes the sensor work together and speeds the reactoin time. If you want you can get on the web and Head sight is on it.
