Optimum stubble treatment

Innovative knives sections

The mix of cutting knife and blunt flail result in optimum stubble treatment and effective control of the corn borer during harvesting.

Protected corn stubble

The stubble is not run on

All stubbles are hit and destroyed by the corn header itself, so they are not run on by the combine or following machines.

Double use

Harvesting and stubble processing at the same time

A sharp section makes a clean cut that separates the stover from the stubble. The cut is followed by a blow which hits the stubble at an angle, ripping it down to the root as the horizontal blade makes a cut at ground level.

Intensive chopping

3-roll header for intensive straw chopping

Two snapping rolls and a counter-rotating disc rotor make the cut diagonally and chop the trash intensively for rapid breakdown and reduced Fusarium pressure in the following crop.

Performance potential

Beefier driveline

To absorb peak loads that may result from operationg so close to the ground and still continue delivering the traditional potential of a Geringhoff machine, the driveline underwent a comprehensive upgrade and reinforcement.

Inproves the field hygiene

Enviromentally friendly processing

The new system marks an enviromentally friendly contribution to an effective control of corn borers and improved field hygiene.

The Horizon Star* III concept

Harvesting and stubble processing in one operation

The mais plant is intensively chopped by the established three-rotor system. Two snapping rolls of different diameters grab the plant and pull it down in a uniform motion. At the same time the cutter rotor (with 15 self-sharpening rotary knives) cuts the plant up into uniformy short sections. The horizontal chopper dotated with an hybrid blade cuts the plant close to the ground, leaving a very short stubble. The angled cutting edge ensures that the very short residual stubble is splitted all the way to the root base.

Straw and stubble processing

No subsequent mulching is necessary, as the straw and stubble are chopped up and splitted in the best possible way.

Gathering system

A unique gathering chain idea

Gathering Chains

Always ready and perfectly tensioned

The gathering chains are tensioned automatically. The gathering chain can be changed quickly and easily thanks to the Geringhoff special tool. As the chain tensioner is tuned to the patented sprocket, the driveline is protected from blockages caused by debris and gearbox failures are avoided. Geringhoff is the only manufacturer to offer automatic tensioning for the gathering chains.

Additional Features

Customized down to every detail

Each field has its specific characteristics and challenges. Our goal is to rise to these challenges and provide you with a head that results in maximum yields from your crop. Upgrade your corn head with our range of additional options and accessories.

Accessories

Down Corn Auger

The optional down corn auger makes harvesting down crops even easier. The hydraulically driven conveyor auger located on the outside bodies (left-hand, right-hand, or double-sided design) of your Geringhoff corn head prevents cobs from being slung out of the corn head. It also keeps corn plants from accumulating on the outer bodies.

Accessories

Stubble Breaker

The stubble-breaker help bend down the sharp-edged corn stubble to avoid tire or track damage. Additionally, they support the weight of your Geringhoff corn head to prevent the chopper assemblies from contacting the ground.

Innovative drive concept 1/3

Outstanding performance

Outstanding performance demands exceptional drivelines. Our Horizon Star* III is driven by a reliable and powerful spur gear. Chains and belts are deliberately avoided to ensure smooth harvesting.

An innovative drive system 2/3

Safe and Reliable

Geringhoff uses Centaflex® couplings to connect the row units. The dampers on the couplings significantly reduce vibration and shock loads on the gearbox that drives the row unit, thereby multiplying its reliability.

An innovative drive system 3/3

Excellent service life

An excellent service life, low maintenance, great flexibility, and compatibility with different combines are truly good reasons for choosing Geringhoff.

Succesful trials

Horizon Star* III destroy up to 90% of the corn stubble in the harvesting pass.

In cooperation with Kiel University of Applied Sciences, initial field tests on the efficiency of the sytem were carried out in several German regions during the 2018 grain maize campaign. The quality of work during these trials were assessed to Boniturschema von Brunotte and Vosshenrich (2017).
The results showed that the use of Horizon Star* saw to 87 % of the corn stubble being totally fractured and destroyed in the harvesting pass. 9% of the remaining stubble was severely damaged and only 4% was left intact. By comparison, stubble destruction rates by mulchers in similar conditions and in account of the combine characteristics were significantly lower.
