Primary Responsibilities:
- Researching and identifying prospective suppliers
- Collaborating with internal project teams and maintaining strong supplier relations
- Evaluating products and suppliers according to key business criteria
- Preparing proposals, requesting quotes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost effective acquisition of goods while maintaining quality standards
- Preparing and issuing purchase orders and supplier agreements
- Monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues and concerns
- Inspecting and evaluating the quality of purchased items and resolving shortcomings
- Analyzing industry and demand trends and supporting senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies
- Preparing reports and maintaining accurate inventory and procurement records
- Following up with vendors on pricing questions when necessary
- Maintaining master data on vendors and materials including delivery times, terms order quantities and all other pertinent information
- Interacting closely with the planning department and production department
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a similar field preferred
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience in an industrial environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies
- Excellent communication with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and ERP system experience (preferably SAP)
- Team player with strong organizational skills
