Corn Head: Maintenance Checklist in the season
Perform these maintenance procedures regularly throughout the season to ensure a smooth harvest.
For detailed information on maintenance intervals, please refer to the attachment-specific operating instructions.
- Check the oil fill quantity and oil condition in the crown gears using the lower inspection screw*.
- Check oil fill quantity and oil condition in the angle gears* - central control screw.
- Check the oil level and oil condition in the series gearboxes - check screw with dipstick on the top of the gearbox*.
- Grease the picking rows daily
- 2 lubrication points on the Mais Star*
- 3 lubrication points on the Rota Disc® and Mais Star* Horizon
- 4 lubrication points on Horizon Star* II
- Lubricate the cardan shafts (universal joints and profile tubes) at regular intervals.
- Lubricate the flange surfaces of the automatic PTO shaft, row and auger couplings at regular intervals (applies to folding headers only).
- Check the correct tension of the auger drive chain and pay attention to the alignment of the sprockets.
- Regularly clean the adjustment device of the picking plates and ensure that the entire adjustment range can be used.
* Place the machine in a horizontal position to check the oil level
Corn head: Maintenance check list before/after the season
General maintenance
- Change the oil in all of the machine's gearboxes. The oil quantities and their specifications can be found in the operating manual.
- Observe the intervals specified in the lubrication schedule in the operating manual.
- Check the tension of the gathering chains.
- When the chain is fitted, the chain slider should not be closer than 1 cm from the end of the slotted hole.
- Dismount the gathering chains and store them in oil for reuse.
- Visually check the front idler sprocket (gathering chain) for damage and if the bearings run smoothly.
- Dismantle the chain guides and check them for wear.
- Dismount and clean the deckplates.
- When reassembling the deckplates, grease the sliding surfaces accordingly.
- Ensure that the V-position is correct when fitting the deckplates. Front distance 20 mm, rear distance 23 mm.
- Check the picking gap closure for wear. Distance to rotor max. 1.0 mm.
- Check the frame spacing of the front row supports (317.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm, see operating manual).
- Check the roller chain of the auger drive for wear and tension and oil it.
- Check the automatic PTO shaft, auger and row couplings for wear and alignment (only applies to folding corn heads).
- Check the functionality of the height control sensors and row sensors (if installed).
- Check the working angle of the corn head in working position in front of the combine harvester (see operating manual).
Please pay particular attention:
- Check and adjust the knives on the rotors. Front distance max. 2-4 mm, rear distance max. 1.0 mm.
- Adjust the front and side scrapers of the rotors to a maximum distance of 0.5 mm, or replace them if the wear limit is exceeded.
- Check the horizontal chopper blades & rotor knives for wear and damage and replace them if the wear limit is exceeded.
Please pay particular attention:
- Check the wear of the cutting discs. If the diameter is 110 mm, we recommend replacing the cutting discs.
- Check the distance between the cutting discs on the rotor shaft (26.5 mm) and that they are firmly seated on the shaft.
- Check and adjust the stubble cutters on the Rota Disc. Distance to the rotor max. 0.5 mm.
- Check the distances between the front and rear scrapers and the rotor (max. 0.5 mm).
- Check the horizontal chopper blades for wear and damage and replace them if the wear limit is exceeded.
